I'm a Software Engineer living in Portland, Oregon with knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Hello, my name is Matt Davis. I'm a software engineer with experience in the full software development life cycle, including estimating projects, writing code, automated testing, and writing documentation.
Most recently I worked for Copious, a digital agency in Portland, Oregon. At Copious I helped build e-commerce websites for our clients, extending the Magento platform (I'm a certified Magento developer!). I worked on new site builds as well as site maintenance, which included adding new features and fixing bugs.
Worked on an agile team as a PHP developer building Magento websites for clients such as Zumiez, Xerox, and Chrome Industries.

Created detailed documentation for business users and future software developers to ensure knowledge is not lost.
Performed code reviews for other engineers’ work to maintain a clean and efficient codebase.
Worked with project managers to finalize functional requirements. Communicated complicated technology to those without tech experience.

I'm a self taught programmer. My first foray into computer science came through a website called Stanford Engineering Everywhere. By using this site I was able to watch all of Stanford University's CS106A, Programming Methodology, course for free from my home (Side Note: Mehran Sahami, the professor of that class, is the greatest teacher ever). I began learning Java and C++, then began developing websites by teaching myself HTML and CSS, and eventually moved on to programming with JavaScript and PHP before starting my career as a web developer.
